Doris Kline Work Nelson, 88, of Oil City, died at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at UPMC Northwest.

Born October 29, 1929, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Mae Irene McCauley Kline.

Doris was a 1947 graduate of Farmington High School (now North Clarion High School).

Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Doris was a member of the First Church of God in Oil City.

She was an avid Pirates fan, enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris was a “lover of life”.

On September 2, 1950, she was married to Russell O. Work who preceded her in death on October 14, 1998.

On October 30, 2004, she married “the love of her life”, David Nelson, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Connie Hofmeister (Don) of Oil City, Pamela Kahle (Tim) and Rebecca Riddle (Frank) all of Franklin; eight grandchildren Jonathan Clark (Christina) of State College, Matthew Clark (Gracie) of Oil City, Kristen Beers (David) of Oil City, Emily Kahle of Pittsburgh, Josh Kahle of Wexford, Megan Kahle of Denver, CO, Lindsay Kahle of Alexandria, VA and Christopher Kahle or Morgantown, WV; eleven great grandchildren who lovingly referred to Doris as “Old Ga”, Kaitlyn Clark, Kiley Clark, Riley O’Dell, Bailey Wise and Hadley Wise all of Oil City, Abigail Clark, Hannah Clark and Russell Clark, all of State College, Tenley Beers, Alaina Beers and Connor Beers all of Oil City.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Doris was the last surviving member of her family.

There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 20, 2017, at the First Church of God in Oil City, with Rev. Brenda Sneddan, pastor, officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Church of God, 11 E 8th St, Oil City or to the Howard G. Kirtland Foundation.

The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
