Doris L. Cheers, 88 of Franklin went to heaven to be with her Lord, at 10:18 P.M. Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Born in Franklin on April 1, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ellis M. and Clara M. Ritchey Free.

She was baptized at the Galloway United Methodist Church on April 9, 1929. Doris attended Rocky Grove High School.

She worked at the former Franklin Hospital and at Rocky Grove Elementary School as a food server.

She also worked at Brown’s Boot Shop and Brody’s.

Doris loved to travel with her late husband George Cheers to many places including Texas.

She was a former member of the Girl Scouts, Venango County Caravan and the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she served on committees and assisted with wedding catering.

Doris had a permanent campsite at Vacationland Camp Ground in Sandy Lake since 1989 and enjoyed square dancing in Rockland.

On January 18, 1947, in the Fox Street Church of God, she married George Cheers and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1998.

Surviving is a daughter, Kathy L. Cheers Lepley and her husband Charles of Franklin; two wonderful grandchildren, Keely L. Baker and her husband Bill of Franklin and Allen E. Lepley and his wife Tessa of Amity, Pa; two great-grandchildren, Dakota A. Lepley and Kelsey L. Baker both of Franklin; two sisters, Gladys Fulmer and Betty Morrison both of Franklin.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marge “Chub” Sanner.

There will be no services or visitation.

Entombment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
