Dorothy-Domres-1432806295[1]Dorothy Adeline Domres, 94, formerly of Cooperstown and the Colonial Manor, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at The Caring Place.

A daughter of Frank H. and Mary Patterson Sloss, she was born in Franklin on February 4, 1921.

Dorothy was salutatorian of the 1938 graduating class of Rocky Grove High School.
She worked in the office at Joy Manufacturing. She was a long time Avon representative and served as Tax Collector of Jackson Township.

She and her husband served as leaders at First Ward Chapel on Liberty Street for over 20 years. She was a long time member of the Baptist Temple and had taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

Dorothy was a volunteer and former board member of the American Cancer Society and she had served on the Resident Council Board of Colonial manor for 8 years.

On December 3, 1940 she married Thomas W. Domres. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter Susan Marie Domres of FL, a grandson Landon Rhoades of OK, a granddaughter Tia Rhoades of OK, and 4 great-grandchildren Dezarae, Sebastian and Samantha Domres and Danielle Castner all of Franklin. Also surviving are a brother Rev. Thomas Raymond Sloss and his wife Mae of Cochranton and a sister Lorraine Slocum and her husband John of Franklin. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and very special friends including the Jeff and Mardell Rishel family and Linda Klinger.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin R. Rhoades and Jeremy Domres, 3 brothers Donald, Clair and Walter Sloss and a sister Gladys Miller.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St., Franklin from 3-7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted in the Baptist Temple, 4777 Old Route , Polk at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor David Foote officiating.

Interment will follow in Peters Cemetery.
