Member_133347Dorothy G. “Dot” Miller of Mayport, died early Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014 at the Clarion Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born September 25, 1925 in Mayport, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clifton G. and Mary Brocious Sherry.

She married Clarence “Dean” Miller on May 11, 1966. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2008.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Bethlehem.

She worked for Rola Jensen and later for Tom’s Riverside Market.

Throughout their lives Dot and Dean lived in Dumfries, Virginia and later retired to Florida; living in Stuart and Ft. Pierce for 15 years.

Mrs. Miller and her husband enjoyed camping, fishing, and snowmobiling together.

Survivors include her three children: Jane Yeany and her husband, Byrd of Mayport, Connie Yeany and her husband, Ronald of Fairmount City, and Larry Wiant and his wife, Emma Jayne of Little Plymouth, Virginia; three stepchildren: Gary Miller and his friend, Peggy Sarvey of Mayport, Shelley Gracey of Coolspring, and Joellyn Miller and her husband Glenn of Mayport; and her grandchildren: W. Byrd Yeany, III, Storm Yeany Miller, Ronald L. Yeany, Jr., Melissa Elliot, Chad Wiant, and Joshua Wiant.

She is also survived by numerous step grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren; three brothers: Guy Sherry, Charles Sherry and Clifton Sherry, Jr.; two sisters: Judy Brocious and Marjorie Tripodi; and her caregiver and good friend, Jewel Bartley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers: James Sherry, Fred Sherry, and Homer Sherry; and sisters: Lois Sherry, Ruth Cramer, and an infant sister, Ruby.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Miller’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Rocky Hammond, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Bethlehem, officiating.

Interment will follow in the North Freedom Cemetery.
