Dorothy-BruntonDorothy McCune-Burchfield Brunton, age 100 of Franklin, passed away at 1:00 pm on Wednesday February 8, 2017.

Dorothy was born in Canal Twp., Venango County on January 13, 1917 to the late Wylie and Jennie Dean McCune. Upon the death of her mother she was raised by her aunt and uncle Nellie and Vance Burchfield of Franklin.

Dorothy graduated from Franklin High School and married her husband, Ralph “Shorty” Brunton on May 30, 1940; he preceded her in death on March 14, 2001 after 61 years of marriage.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Being a grandmother brought Dorothy immense joy and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life.

Dorothy’s gentle, loving spirit touched many lives.

She also loved young people and supported and followed all her great grandchildren through their various activities until her passing.

Dorothy also volunteered her time to many organizations over her 100 years.

She was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church and a member of the Friendship Circle Class. Her church family was very special to her.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Georgine Baker and her husband Ken of Cranberry Township, Ralph Brunton and his wife Melissa of Franklin, and Debra Walters and her Husband Scott of Franklin, six grandchildren, Jeff Brunton of Franklin, Dan Brunton and his wife Mary Ann of Slippery Rock, Brian Baker and his wife Becky of Erie, Doug Baker of Columbus, Ohio, Scott Walters and his wife Amanda of Franklin, and Kelly Shetler and her husband Justin of Wooster, Ohio, ten great-grandchildren, Carly Brunton, Kasey Hutchinson, Tucker and Molly Brunton, Paisley Baker, Scott and Leia Walters, Ethan, Ainsley, and Kellan Shelter, three brothers, William McCune of Utica, Donald McCune of Cochranton, and Robert McCune of Franklin, and three sisters, Marjorie Rodgers and Betty Snyder of Franklin, and Doris Lynn of Cochranton.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 W. Park St. Franklin.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, February 11 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St, Franklin from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. David Janz and Rev. Sam Wagner, Pastors at Christ United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Cochranton Cemetery.
