Dorothy PearsonDorothy R. Pearson, age 99, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, Saint Marys, PA and formerly of Little Egypt Road, Seneca, PA passed away on Sunday (03-19-17) at Pinecrest Manor.

She was born December 16, 1917 daughter of the late Charles and Katherine Fischer.

She was a 1935 graduate Cranberry High School and graduated for Clarion University with a degree in Elementary Education.

She began her teaching career at Kossuth, Clarion County. She continued her teaching at the Innis Street School in Oil City.

The remainder of her career as a teacher was in Cranberry Township.

On October 9, 1945 in the Good Hope Lutheran Church she married George R. Pearson who preceded her in death on February 15, 1977.

She is survived by a son, Clark Pearson, and his wife Anne of Saint Marys. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Wayne (Amanda) Krieg and Phillip (Kayla) Krieg, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine K. “Cookie” Pearson who died in 2004 and by thirteen brothers and sisters. She was the last member of her immediate family.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for over sixty years and a member of the church choir. She served on the church council and the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Lutheran Women serving as chairperson for three years. She was a life member of the Meriam Circle and founded “The Young Believers” at her church.

Dorothy was given a Life Membership Award by Pinoak Teachers’ Association; received membership in the National Honors Society of Cranberry; received the Literary Council Reading Award.

She served as a Girl Scout leader for fifteen years and was a charter member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and was president for three years.

She was a member of the Belle Letter Club; member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and of the American Association of University Women.

Dorothy also enjoyed playing Bridge.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church, 207 State Street, Oil City, PA on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Noon with the Reverend Michael Parsh officiating.

Burial will be in the Brandin Cemetery in Cranberry.

Visitation will be at the Zion Lutheran Church from 11 AM until time of service at Noon.
