Doroty Ruth KingDorothy “Ruth” King, age 87, of Knox passed away early Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City, following an illness.

Born March 13, 1929 in Madison Township, Clarion County (Parker), she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Hooks Conner. She married Russell C. King on November 6, 1946. The couple had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary shortly before Russell’s passing on December 30, 2012.

Ruth worked for Gallagher’s Restaurant in Callensburg, McCall Farms in Sligo and retired from the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Sligo.

She lived in the Rimersburg area for over 50 years before moving to Knox, where she and Russell resided for over 25 years.

Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was especially important and her life focused around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She liked to cook and bake and her cookies, candy, bread and pies where enjoyed by many.

Survivors include three daughters: Dolores Bell and her husband, Bill, of Knox; Peggy Kriebel and her husband, Richard, of Sligo and Susan Stephenson and her husband, Dan, of Knox; six grandchildren: William Bell II and his wife, Darcy, of Titusville; Nicole Fox and her husband, Lance, of Hilliards; Erin Lewis and her husband, Michael, of Clarion; Eric Kriebel and his wife, Kelly, of Sligo; Jessica Wilson and Mary Wilson of Knox; Seven great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Luke Fox, Jesse, Tyler and Lacie Lewis, Andrew Hoffman and Hunter Colwell.

Ruth is also survived by two brothers: Carroll Conner and Ronald Conner; one sister, Doris Bell and a sister-in-law, Zelma King.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William C. King; five brothers: Alvin, Lawrence, Lloyd, Edgar and Loren Conner and three sisters: Ailene Fox, Edna Watterson and Lucille Jordan.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 with the Reverend Lewie Bennett, Associate Pastor of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah, officiating over the services.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Conneration in Madison Township, Clarion County.
