001Dorothy Sheatz, 97, formerly of Cochranton and a resident of Wesbury Methodist Community for the past three years, died at her residence on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

Born, June 13, 1920 in Meadville she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene Alsdorf Guenther.

She was raised by her grandparents, Onie and Maude Olsdorf after the death of her mother.

Dorothy married Clair E. Sheatz on March 11, 1966 and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2001.

She retired from the former Avtex in Meadville after 43 years.

She was also a member of the Cochranton United Methodist church, a life member of the Golden Crown Order of the Eastern Stars and was a Past Matron of the former Allegheny Court Order of the Amarath.

Survivors include her children; Gerald Sheatz and his wife Nancy of Carlton and Duane Sheatz of Guitonville, three step daughters, Marilyn Sheatz Okert and her husband Gene of Meadville, Janine Sheatz of Polk and Deborah Sheatz Lepley of Franklin. 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 9great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, a son John C. Sheatz, 3 great granddaughters, a sister, Elaine Montgomery, and two son in laws, Rick Fisher and Bud Lepley.

Dorothy will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Friends and family will be received at the Dickson Family Funeral Home, Inc., 123 S. Franklin St. Cochranton on Friday, June 23, 2017 , from 2-4 and 7-9.

The funeral service will be 11:00am at the Cochranton United Methodist Church, on Saturday at 11:00am, with the Rev. John Bargar, officiating.

Interment will be in the Cochranton Cemetery.
