dorothy gaddessDorothy V. Gaddess, 94, of 120 Nagel Rd., Henrys Bend passed away at 4:45 P.M. Saturday May 27, 2017 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Born Feb. 12, 1923 in Fertigs, PA., she was the daughter of Homer Schwab & Mary Spangler Schwab.

She attended the Centerville School in Fertigs and was a 1941 graduate of Cranberry High School.

Dorothy was married on June 23, 1946 to James A. Gaddess and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1978.

Dorothy had worked in the Tabulating room at Oilwell Supply Co. and had worked for General Manifold in Franklin.

Dorothy was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where she was a lay delegate to the Western PA annual conference in Grove City for many years.

She was a member of the Alter guild and flower coordinator at the church and participated in the farther with Christ Sunday School Class.

Dorothy was a former member of M.A.D.D., AARP , and the President Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the former Henry’s Bend Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy had also played the organ and piano at the Henry’s Bend Chapel for many years.

She sold Avon and had been a member of the Presidents Club.

Mrs. Gaddess had also volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, and Meals on Wheels.

She never missed voting and had voted in every election.

Dorothy loved music and was an avid fan of Gaither Homecoming & Friends and had attended many concerts.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, taking rides, eating out, and bird watching.

She also enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their events that they participated in.

She is survived by three children, Sandra Reardon & her husband Robert of Plumer, Richard Gaddess & his wife Jackie of Rocky Grove, Paul Gaddess of Henrys Bend; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Reardon of Jamestown, NY, John Reardon & his fiance Lindsay of Newport, RI, Adam Reardon of Moon Twp., David Gaddess & his wife Heidi of Cooperstown, Emily Martin & her husband Tim of Franklin; Four Great Grandchildren, Sophie and Amelia Gaddess and Allison and Deacon Martin.

Dorothy is also survived by one brother Leroy Schwab & his wife Ella Mae of Fertigs.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a son David Jon Gaddess and a granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Gaddess.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday in the funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Fred Monk and Rev. Walter Anthony Presiding.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Calvary United Methodist Church 115 East First St. Oil City, PA. 16301 or to a charity of one’s choice.
