PLEASANTVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Police say a man died following an accident that occurred on East State Street (State Route 36), east of School Street, in Pleasantville Borough, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 9:40 p.m. on September 20, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on East State Street leaving Pleasantville. The vehicle had just negotiated a right curse when a medical event occurred with the driver.

At this point, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center double yellow lines, through the opposite lane of traffic, and left the roadway to the north of East State Street, police say.

The vehicle then traveled approximately 100 feet before striking a 2008 Ford Focus in the rear bumper and continuing less than a car length into a row of pine trees. That was the final resting position of the vehicle, according to police.

Police say from looking at the tire tracks, there were no evasive movements made nor were the brakes applied with any kind of force.

The driver was wearing his seat belt, according to police.

Emergycare from Titusville responded to the scene and took control of the care of the driver, transporting him to Titusville Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased due to an unrelated event, police say.

Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Shambaugh Towing towed the vehicle from the scene.

The name of the driver was not released.

The above report was released to exploreVenango.com on September 27, 2015.
