Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes into Car on Route 322

police-2CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A Kittanning man suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on U.S. Route 322 in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, 27-year-old Brett Yockey was driving a 2009 Dodge Caravan east on U.S. Route 322 when he fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 49-year-old Leland Hepler, of Lexington, Mass., which was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Ross Drive.

Yockey was taken to UPMC Seneca for treatment of minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Yockey was cited for careless driving.

Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, Community Ambulance, and Venango Towing also assisted at the scene.
