According to Franklin-based State Police, this crash occurred on Sunday, June 4, as a 2011 Sierra was traveling in the northbound lane of State Route 36, north of Temperance House Road.

Police say the male driver lost control of the Sierra, and the vehicle traveled off the eastern berm of the roadway. Its passenger side’s tires and undercarriage impacted a ditch located along the east berm of Route 36. Then, the vehicle traveled north in the ditch for approximately 160 feet and then traveled back onto the roadway. The vehicle then traveled northwest across the northbound lane and center lines of Route 36.

At this point, the vehicle changed direction and began to travel northeast across the northbound lane while rotating clockwise. The vehicle then traveled off the east berm of Route 36, and the driver’ side front tire had an impact with an embankment located east of Route 36. Then, the vehicle began to overturn while traveling north, and its roof impacted a tree located on the embankment. After the third impact, the vehicle came to a final rest on its tires facing east in the northbound lane of Route 36, according to police.

The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival, police say.
