CANAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on May 7 in Canal Township, Venango County.

The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. when David R. Hartnett, 60, Bellefonte, swerved to miss a deer while traveling north on Old Route 322.

State Police said Hartnett over-compensated when he swerved, causing his 2011 Honda Pilot to exit the roadway and travel up a small embankment.

The vehicle subsequently collided head-on with a tree.

Hartnett was wearing a safety belt and was uninjured, according to state police.

He was cited for a lane violation.

Hartnett’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Venango Towing.
