E. Deretha “Dete” Bussard

E. Deretha “Dete” Bussard, 90, of New Bethlehem, died Tuesday evening, October 2, 2018, at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo.

Born on December 18, 1927, in Putneyville, she was the daughter of the late Ira Davis and Carrie Agnes (Neese) Smith.

Dete was married on April 29, 1949, to Harry Kenneth Bussard and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2002.

She was a member of the Distant Baptist Church and also the Woodsmen of the World.

She is survived by three children, Connie Kanish and her husband Steve of Kittanning, Larry Bussard, and Denny Bussard and his wife Pam, both of New Bethlehem, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Dete was also preceded in death by a brother, Blair M. Smith.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 4, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating. Interment will be in the Copenhaver Crossroads Cemetery, Redbank Township, Armstrong County.
