The Golden Eagles drop to 4-11, 2-9 in PSAC play on the season while the Fighting Scots improve to 5-11 and 2-8 in the PSAC.

A rough shooting night for Clarion, who shot just 29 percent from the floor in the first half, caused the Golden Eagles to trail the Fighting Scots by a score of 42-29 at the break.

Clarion improved their shooting in the second half outscoring the Fighting Scots 48-40 through the period clawing their way back to within just two points with 1:48 left to play in the game, but that is as close as they would get.

The Golden Eagles’ Elijah Cottrill scored a game-high 20 points, including six of the last 10 points of the game, while grabbing seven rebounds. Stevan Rodriguez picked up his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 boards in 27 minutes of action.

Edinboro was paced by Jaryn Simpson who netted 20 points while dishing off seven assists and grabbing four rebounds. Trey Staunch scored 18 points on the night, while Daylon Harris dropped 17.

The Golden Eagles will remain in their home gym as they host the IUP Crimson Hawks in a PSAC West doubleheader matchup on Saturday, January 26. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. with the women’s team playing before them at 1 p.m.
