Edward Bizzak, 99, formerly of Big Shanty Road in Lafayette Twp., died Monday evening, June 26, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Pittsburgh.

Born March 9, 1918 in Kane, he was the son of John and Mary Cehovin Bizzak.

On May 10, 1947 in Kane, he married Fanny J. Hervatin, who died in 2004.

Ed served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the China Burma India Theater of operations in the Asia Pacific Campaign.

After marriage, he resided in Cyclone where he worked for Tidewater Oil Company. In 1963, he was transferred to Monahans, Texas, and worked for Getty / Texaco in the Permian Basin until his retirement in 1980, when he returned to the area and built a home in Lafayette.

He and his wife enjoyed their retirement years gardening, visiting with family and frequently hosting their children and grandchildren.

After Fanny’s death, Ed moved to Greensburg to live with his son, Jim. While there, he most enjoyed and looked forward to mowing the surrounding fields of the property with a John Deere tractor.

Surviving are three sons, James Bizzak of Greensburg, Robert Bizzak of Irwin and David (Linda) Bizzak of Greensburg; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a sister, Mary Grolemund; and brothers Max, John, Joseph, Emil, Frank, Lewis and Stanley Bizzak.

Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8, during which a Vigil Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated St. Callistus Catholic Church at 11:00 on Friday with the rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Erie, and former pastor of St. Callistus, as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane, with military honors.
