Edward WetzelEdward Calvin Wetzel, age 74, of Knox, passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, following an illness.

Born December 9, 1942 in Beaver Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Russel E. and Eileen M. Rowe Wetzel.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He achieved the rank of E-6.

Following his military career, Ed was employed as a miller for Franklin Steel until becoming disabled.

He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox and loved to hunt and fish.

Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and tending his flower beds.

Survivors include a son and daughter: Martin L. Wetzel and wife, Sabrina, of Rimersburg and Heather Seigworth and husband, Alan, of Knox; four grandchildren: Brianna Wetzel, Timothy “Tim” Seigworth and wife, Jenessa; Lynn “L.J.” Seigworth and Russel “Rusty” Seigworth; one great granddaughter, Adele and two step grandchildren: Gregory and Daniel Duncan.

Ed is also survived by a brother and sister: Richard A. Wetzel and wife, Valerie, of Florida and Marilyn K. Reed and husband, Philip “Skip”, of Knox.

Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the church, with the Reverend Karen Parsh and Reverend Dan Myers officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the beginning of the service by the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox.

Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Union Cemetery.
