Eileen M. Schaeffer, age 87, of Grove City, formerly of Irwin Township, Venango Co., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, in Grove Manor following an extended illness.

She was born in Grove City on Dec. 26, 1929, the daughter of Ernest E. and Lela L. (Smith) Eakin.

Eileen graduated from Grove City High School in 1949.

She married William H. Kemery in 1949 and later married Benton E. Schaeffer in 1970.

She lived most of her life on a farm and enjoyed her many pet cats.

Also, she enjoyed reading, needlepoint, going to yard sales and spending time with her grandchildren.

Eileen was a former member of Irwin Presbyterian Church and is currently a member of Center Presbyterian Church.

For many years she worked at the Buckwheat Cake Suppers at both Irwin Church and Wesley Grange.

Eileen is survived by 5 children, Caroline Kemery, Kennerdell, Dennis Kemery, Polk, Janet Whitehouse, Grove City, Robert Kemery, Oil City, and Shirley Smith, Grove City, a step-son, Rodney Schaeffer, Jackson Center, a step-daughter, Carol Alt, Harrisburg, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. Her parents, 1st and 2nd husband, infant son, Eddie, 2 brothers, Raymond and John Everett Eakin preceded Eileen in death.
