Eileen Philomene (Mock) Altman

| July 11, 2017

Eileen Philomene (Mock) Altman, 94, of Sun Rise Rest at Presque Isle in Erie, PA, formally of Marienville PA went to her heavenly reward on Sunday July, 9, 2017.

Eileen was one of eight children born on September 14, 1922 to the late Carl R. and Irene (Schill) Mock.

Eileen was married to Clarence (Bill) S. Altman on November 25, 1944 at St. Joseph Church, Lucinda, PA. He preceded her in death.

Eileen attended St. Joseph School until the death of her mother and then she became the caretaker of her siblings.

Eileen has worked as a cook, as a machine operator (Rosie the Riveter) as a mother and a grandmother, the last was the easiest of all.

Eileen loved sewing for her family and friends.

After Bill’s retirement the two of them enjoyed life — camping, fishing, and snowmobiling.

After Bill’s death Eileen stayed at their home for many years, but the care and upkeep became over-whelming, so Eileen decided to move to Erie, PA., but she always loved the country life.

She retained the stories and memories of the people she met and those with whom she became friends.

Eileen is survived by two sons, John Altman of Erie, PA and Dennis and wife Sandy Altman of Apalachin, NY. She was fortunate to have also six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband Eileen is preceded in death by two brothers, Cleon Edward and Wayne Alfred; and two sisters, Rose Marie and Monica Amelia as well as a grandson Denny Jr.

Please join the family at Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday July 12, 2017 for visitation to remember and honor her life.

A vigil service will be held prior to visitation at 5:30pm.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday July 13, 2017 with Reverend Christopher Barnes at St. Ann’s Church, pastor as celebrant, 101 Hemlock Street Marienville, PA 16239.

Friends and family may leave online condolences, light a memorial candle, and obtain additional information at www.furlongfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Ann’s in Eileen’s name would be appreciated.
