2834587Eleanor I. Burns, 105, formerly of Colerain St. Sligo passed away Sunday morning November 30, 2014 at the Clarview Nursing and Rehab. Center near Sligo.

Born in Butler July 9, 1909, she was the daughter of Clyde and Linnie Smith Somerville. Eleanor was married October 10, 1928 to Donald E. ‘Short’ Burns and he died July 14, 1993.

She was a member of the Sligo United Methodist Church for 80 years. Eleanor was a homemaker who loved cooking, baking the best rolls, sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Betty Mock of Mesa,AZ, Martha Belle Wensel of Sligo, and Janet Timco of Hilliards,a daughter-in-law Jane Burns of Clarion, a sister Georgia Myers of Rimersburg, a brother Chad Somerville and wife Peggy of Latrobe, 7 grandchildren; Susan Keny, Richard Boyd, Barbara Badger, Eric Wensel, Scott Burns, Kelly Timco, and Cindy Lott, 4 step-grandchildren; Annette Roberts, Tony Kapp, Donna Hill, and Jay Best, 11 greatgrandchildren, 4 step-greatgrandchildren,15 great greatgrandchildren and 2 step-great greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Eleanor was preceded in death by a son Clyde E. Burns, 3 sons-in-law; Donald Mock, Keith Wensel, and Donald Timco, 5 sisters; Hazel Murray, Ruth Rowe, Nellie Wyman, Naomi Fair, and Ida Mae Bobbert, and 1 brother Arnold Somerville.

Eleanor’s family will receive friends from 11 AM – 2 PM Wednesday December 3, 2014 at the Sligo United Methodist Church, with her funeral at 2 PM with the Rev. Craig Peterson, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Sligo.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Sligo United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are at the direction of the Varner Funeral Home 1632 Bald Eagle St. Sligo, PA 16255.
