| September 18, 2018

BARKEYVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Multiple area fire departments were dispatched after the TA Service Center truck stop in Barkeyville began to fill with smoke Monday evening.

According to Grant Rea, Assistant Chief of Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, around 6:18 p.m. Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, Pine Township Engine Company, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team, Grove City Volunteer Fire Department, and Emlenton Fire Department were dispatched to the scene after a Polk Borough Police officer discovered smoke in the truck stop and began the evacuation.

Pine Township Engine Company, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team, and Emlenton Fire Department also provided aerial devices and Pine Township Engine Company provided two engines.

According to Rea, first responders did not find any visible flames upon their arrival – only smoke.

“It appeared that an electrical outlet was getting water dripped into it from the rain, causing it to short out and smoke,” Rea said.

No injuries were reported and there was no major damage to the building.

The scene was cleared at 7:02 p.m.
