Elizabeth C. “Betty” Szekeresh Ford, 80 of Front St, Franklin, died at 5:15 P.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born May 21, 1937, in Jackson Township, PA, daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Shuagis) Szekeresh.

She graduated St. Mary’s grade school in Nanty Glo, PA. Graduated Ebensburg High School, received Associate Degree in Specialized Technology, Hiram G Andrews in 1980 and Bachelor of Science, Clarion University in 2003 after 8 years of taking evening and summer classes while employed full time. She was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi with 3.99 GPA.

She was employed at Penn DOT as a designer where she worked for 24 years.

Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, bike riding, 5 K walks and working out at the YMCA in Franklin, Sudoku puzzles and reading. She loved the theatre and acted in Little Theatre Groups.

She is a member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald M. Hoffman and children, Richard Allan Ford of Sterling VA, Christine Louise Williamson (Robert) of Mundy’s Corner, PA, David Lewis Ford (Remegia) of Springfield, VA, Theodore Martin Ford (Deborah) of Vinco, PA, Constance Lynn Ford of Southampton, PA, Brenda Joyce Bailey (Christopher) of Aurora, OH, Renee Maureen Moffatt (Eric) of Jamestown, NY and Ryan Miles Hoffman (Angela) of Sugar Grove, PA.

Additionally surviving are her grandchildren, Jeremy Ford (Valerie) of Littleton, CO, Jennifer Collins (Derek) of Madisonville, TN, Justin Williamson (Dainya) of Mundy’s Corner, PA, Ashley Cramer (Terry) of Wheeling WV, Abegail and Hannah Ford of Springfield, VA, Quincy and Kallon Crowther of Southampton, PA Jacob and Nathaniel Hoffman of Sugar Grove, PA, Alice and Gary Moffatt of Jamestown, NY; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Ford, Littleton, CO, Lars, Makenna, Brock, Aryana and Easton Williamson of Mundy’s Corner, PA, Slade and Keegan Collins of Madisonville, TN and a great-granddaughter due in November, Madelyn Ivan of Springfield, VA.

Also survived by brothers and sisters, MaryAnn Smith of Ebensburg, PA, Martin Szekeresh (Helen) of Payson AZ, Rosemaire Kuhar (John) of Vintondale, PA, Thomas Szekeresh of Mundy’s Corner, PA, Robert Szekeresh (Isela) of Huntington Beach, CA, Margaret Kasper (Tim) of Milesburg, PA, Andrew Szekeresh of Ebensburg PA, Patricia Kupchella (John) of Strongstown, PA and Susan Huber ( Jerry) of Ebensburg, PA; two sisters in law, Simone Szekeresh and Colleen Fodor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Theresa Szekeresh, two brothers Albert J. Szekeresh and Joseph J. Szekeresh and a brother in law William Smith.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday and from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. Tuesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty St., Franklin with Monsignor John J. Herbein, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
