Emil LetkeEmil Letke born December 29, 1924 passed away February 3, 2017.

He was the son of the late William and Stella Letke.

Emil received his education in Eau Claire prior to entering the service in 1943.

Emil enlisted into the Navy and served during World War II on USS Randolph.

During his time in the Navy he received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal.

Emil was honorably discharged on March 8, 1946 with the rank of Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class.

Emil retired from A.K. Steel where he was a lab technician and chemists.

The simple things in life made him happy.

He had a great love for trees.

Emil enjoyed feeding and watching his birds.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews Karen (Alan) Rider, Susan (Richard) Uhleman, Jane (Larry) Aiken, Nancy (Tom) Hovis, Robert (Lisa) Letke, and William Letke, and his loving caretaker Jackie also survives.

Preceded in the by his parents, a brother and his sisters. Emil was the last surviving member of his immediate family

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 11-1.

Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Denny Barger officiating.

Internment will take place at Scrubgrass Cemetery.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers, plant a tree this spring in Emil’s memory.
