Emlenton Man Accused of Assaulting, Threatening Woman

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) – An Emlenton man faces assault and related charges after he allegedly punched a woman and threatened her life.

According to court documents, the Emlenton Police Department filed criminal charges against 53-year-old Ronald Mills VanWart, of Emlenton.

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, Emlenton Borough Police Chief Dan Siegel took an official report from a female who alleged that VanWart had punched her at least twice at a residence located at 610 Main Street in Emlenton.

The victim had recent physical marks below her left and right eyes which were also swollen and blackened. The woman also said that when she attempted to run from VanWart she fell, causing “rug burn” on her elbow and right leg, the complaint states.

According to the victim, VanWart told her, “I could kill you,” the complaint indicates.

She also stated that at one point during an altercation, she was choked in the resident’s kitchen and nearly passed out, the complaint continues.

VanWart was arraigned at 3:00 p.m. on August 22 in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he was placed in the Clarion County Jail on August 22.

His bail was posted by a professional bondsman on August 24.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, with Judge Patrick Lowrey presiding.
