PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 17-year-old Emlenton girl was life-flighted to Allegheny General Hospital and an 18-year-old Emlenton man was transported to Clarion Hospital in a suspected DUI crash on Route 368 early Sunday morning.

Police say around 12:13 a.m. on Sunday, September 2, 18-year-old Zachary A. Whitling, of Emlenton, was traveling east on State Route 368 in a 2003 Subaru Outback, approximately 3/10 mile west of Doc Walker Road, in Perry Township, Clarion County.

According to Clarion-based State Police, Whitling was traveling too fast for conditions and failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. The vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and struck an embankment where the vehicle overturned and rolled to a resting position on its passenger side in the center of the roadway facing west.

Whitling and his passenger – a 17-year-old Emlenton female – got out of the vehicle and pushed the vehicle onto its wheels.

Whitling then drove the vehicle off the roadway into a nearby driveway.

Whitling was transported to Clarion Hospital via ambulance for suspected minor injuries.

His passenger was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for suspected serious injuries.

According to police, Whitling was arrested for DUI. Charges are pending blood result.

Whitling and his passenger were not using seat belts.

Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, Emlenton Area Ambulance, Pollock’s Towing, and Life Flight assisted at the scene.
