Emlenton Woman Falls Victim to Scammer Posing As Publishers Clearing House

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An Emlenton woman fell prey to a scammer posing as a representative of the Publishers Clearing House.

According to Clarion-based State Police, the incident occurred sometime between 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, on Clawson Lane, in Richland Township, Clarion County.

Police say a 68-year-old Emlenton woman was contacted by an unknown male who related that she had won money from Publishers Clearing House.

The unknown perpetrator convinced the victim to send money by using Amazon gift cards and provide the codes to him.

Police are warning the public that if anyone receives any calls from phone number 876-599-3176, please do not provide them any financial information or money payments. The entire call is a scam.

The investigation continues in this case.
