Emma Jean Anderson, age 80, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at McKinley Health Care in Brookville following an illness.
Born June 19, 1936 in Putneyville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Crissman and Rosilee Nolf Crissman.

She married Chester Anderson in 1954. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1973.

She was a custodian for Redbank Valley School District until retirement.

Emma was a member of the Putneyville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, baking, and gardening.

Survivors include a son: Rodger Anderson and his wife Georgia of New Bethlehem; a daughter: Sally Wedekind and husband Kevin of Shippenville; four grandchildren: Devin Magagnotti and wife Jamie of the state of Washington, Sarah Wedekind and boyfriend Eric of Shippenville, Ryan Wedekind and girlfriend Marie of Shippenville, and Katie Anderson and fiancé Todd of New Bethlehem; and one great granddaughter: Willow.

Emma is also survived by three brothers: Robert Crissman and wife Carol of New Bethlehem, Richard Crissman and wife Lei of New Bethlehem, and John Crissman of New Bethlehem; two sisters: Mary Jane Hetrick and husband Sam of New Bethlehem and Margaret Yarger and husband Reed of Fairmount City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Emma is preceded in death by an infant daughter: Kathy; and four sisters: Alice Byerly, Laura Alcorn, Hazel Horne, and Lavina Cole.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Derwood (Bud) Davis officiating over the services.

Interment will follow at the Eddyville Cemetery.
