ERIE, Pa. (EYT) – As we have hit just a little over the halfway point in the high school basketball season, the Erie Times-News’ Tom Reisenweber has taken a shot at projecting the District 10 postseason pairings.

Reisenweber projects that the Rocky Grove boys’ team will get a bye in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs and will play either Eisenhower or Reynolds in the quarterfinals.

In Class 4A, the scribe believes Franklin’s boys’ team will be the sixth-place team out of Region 5 and will take on Harbor Creek, while Oil City will be the eighth-place team out of Region 5 and take on Erie Strong Vincent.

On the girls’ side, Reisenweber projects Rocky Grove to be the third-place team out of Region 1 with the Orioles taking on Youngsville in the first round of the 2A bracket. He also predicts Oil City as the top team out of Region 2 with the Oilers taking on the winner of the Mercyhurst Prep vs. Titusville game in Class 4A with Franklin as the second-place team out of Region 2 taking on Villa Maria.

It should be noted that while the playoffs are an “open” format, meaning any team can elect to participate regardless of record, some teams may decide not to go to the playoffs creating byes for the team they were slated to play.
