ernestErnest Leroy Goble of Shippenville passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on June 23, 2017.

He was 91 years of age.

Born on September 11, 1925 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Clyde Frederick and Ida (Burkett) Goble.

After graduating from high school, he went to Clarion College where he pursued his love of nature and science. He eventually stayed on there and worked as a custodian until he retired.

Ernest loved being outdoors and taking walks in the woods and identifying various species of plants and animals. He was a bee-keeper and gardener and helped his sister with the many varieties of wildflowers and perennials surrounding his home.

Ernest enjoyed playing horseshoes and remodeling his house.

Ernest is survived by his two sisters, Mildred Walters of Tionesta, and Mary Jane Goble of Shippenville; his three nieces, Mary Alice Price, Nancy Doyle, and Karen Holman; his three nephews, Vincent Walters, Ken Horn, and Wesley Walters; and a large extended family of great- nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant sisters, Margery Adeline and Margaret Bell Goble; and a sister, Lorraine Goble Horn.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin R. Haley, officiating.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
