Esther L. Green

Esther L. Green, 75, a resident of Franklin died peacefully at 5:20 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in UPMC-Northwest in Seneca, following a period of declining health.

She was born February 6, 1942 in Franklin, a beloved daughter of the late: Rollo W. “Budd” and Carrie E. Johnson Bell.

Esther was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School.

A hard worker all her life, Esther began working at the Franklin Dairy Queen, where she will be fondly remembered as their first formal employee.

She had worked as a caregiver to the school children at the former Seventh Street School and was a secretary for more than 13 years with the Arnold Corporation – Reynolds & Reynolds.

For more than 55 years, she had worked from her home as a seamstress and was well-known throughout the area.

She had altered many a wedding gown through the years, and sometimes, a quick alteration on the wedding day, to be sure the bride always looked her absolute best for her special day.

Esther also was the longtime seamstress for the former Printz’s Clothing store in Franklin, as well as Hy-Tone Cleaners.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was married June 7, 1966 to Robert R. Green, Sr., who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is by two sons: Robert R. Green, Jr. of Franklin and Russell D. “Russ” Green of Oil City.

Also surviving are two sisters: Patricia L. Smith of Franklin and Barbara E. Jordan and her husband Robert of Rockland; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rollo W. Bell, II.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Private graveside funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of her family in Franklin Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Powell of the First Baptist Church in Franklin officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
