Esther Louise Proper, 82, of 3438 State Route 257, Seneca, died at 4:45 am, Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born July 1, 1930 in Reno, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Mae Corbin Dunkle.

Mrs. Proper was a graduate of Oil City High School.

She worked for 30 years at Franklin Dairy and later at Shirley’s Restaurant.

Mrs. Proper enjoyed family functions and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting bells, going out to eat and her dog, Cocoa.

On April 7, 1950 she married Warren E. Proper, who preceded her in death on September 28, 1989.

Surviving are seven children, Sandi Proper Kase and husband Tom of Oil City, Warren A. Proper of Seneca, Kenneth W. Proper of Oil City, Edmund L. Proper of Seneca, Stuart J. Proper of Oil City, Ronda M. Proper Spence of Newport News VA, and Karen S. Proper Baugher of Oil City; fifteen grandchildren, Toni Coover, Jason Marsh, Bryan Marsh, Bradley Proper, Mitchell Proper, Kimberly Proper, Julieanne Proper, Katherine Proper, Erica Billings, Joshua Strain, Krystal Strain, Jessica Spence, Crystal Sample, Caitlyn Sample and Matthew “Gunner” Baugher; and 12 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, William Frank Dunkle of Plumer, a sister, Audrey Myers of Utica, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Dunkle and a daughter-in-law, Pam Proper.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Friday.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Venango County Humane Society.
