Ethel L. “Dutch” Brink, 94, of 5 Englewood Ave., Oil City, died at her home at 12:11 am, Tuesday, August 19, 2014, surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.

Born March 3, 1920 in Dempseytown, she was a daughter of the late Harold Reno and Bernice Bowser Prather.

She was born and raised in Dempseytown and attended the Oakland Schools and graduated from Oil City High School in 1936.

Early in her life she was a switchboard operator for General Telephone and a secretary for Pennzoil Corp. She retired from the Oil City School District as Administrative Secretary to the Business Manager in 1984 after 30 years of service.

Mrs. Brink was a member of the Belle Lettres Club, Red Hat Society and a past president of the Fort Venango Chapter of Business and Professional Women.

She had a special passion for playing bridge, loved watching Steelers and Penn State football and playing along with Jeopardy. She also loved painting and making ceramics.

Mrs. Brink was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

On March 17, 1941 she married Robert A. Brink who preceded her in death on June 17, 1993.

Surviving are three sons, Daniel L. Brink and wife Fay of New Concord, OH, Randall A. Brink and wife Susan of Oil City and Ronald A. Brink of Oil City; a daughter, Terry E. Ballew and husband Gerald of Cochranton; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a dear friend Jim Self of Hollywood, CA.

In addition to her parents and husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and 3 sisters, Eleanor Passamonte, Iola Miller and Naomi Valeri.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday from 10 to 11 am.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral at 11 am Friday with Rev. Ronee Christy, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial are suggested to the VNA Foundation or the Audio book section of the Oil City Library.
