Eugene C. “Butch” Mitcham, 74, of 111 W. Walnut St. Titusville, passed away Thursday morning November 26, 2015 at the Titusville Area Hospital.

Butch was born on January 16, 1941 in Oil City, PA, a son of the late Chalmer and Gwendolyn McCoy Mitcham. He was married to Katherine Petroski on May 20, 1967 in Pleasantville.

He was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1958 and had attended Mansfield College.

Butch was a veteran having served in the US Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1970 with the rank of staff sergeant.

Butch had been employed for 37 years at the former Gage Company in Titusville where he was branch manager of the Titusville and Erie offices at the time of his retirement.

He was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong citizen of Titusville and had served as mayor of Titusville. He was currently still active as an advisory board member of Northwest Savings Bank. He was also a board member of the Venango Training and Development Center in Oil City for 30 years.

Butch enjoyed his coffee at the former Thompson’s Drug Store and at McDonalds with his close friends. He was devoted to spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Titusville Football Team which was undefeated and district champions in his senior year. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

Butch is survived by his wife Kathy of Titusville; three sons, Jason Mitcham and wife Elizabeth of Charlotte, NC, Brian Mitcham and partner Jessica Marino and Michael Mitcham and partner Kelly Seibel, all of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Andrew Preston Mitcham and Warren Reice Mitcham; a brother, Charles Mitcham and wife Patricia of Greenville, SC; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard Petroski and wife Jane of Holidaysburg; a sister-in-law, Karen Nason of Lake Wylie, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Fred Nason.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 7 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Titusville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Purvis-Smith officiating.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church 216 N. Franklin St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to the charity of one’s choice.
