Eugene BigleyEugene S. “Gene” Bigley, 83, of the Billie Brown Building, passed away Monday morning January 9, 2017 at Country Acres Personal Care Home.

Gene was born on October 8, 1933 at Clarion, PA, a son of the late Ralph and Hazel Muir Bigley.

He was married to Joanne Daugherty on May 2, 1958 in Titusville. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2000.

Gene was a veteran having served in the US Navy.

He had been employed for a number of years at the Titusville Area School District as custodian from where he retired. He had also been employed at the Titusville Herald, Titusville Dairy, Northwest Motors, and Phillips 66.

He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW.

He enjoyed the outdoors, picnics, maintaining his home, and his former southside family.

Gene is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Smith and husband Charles of Titusville; three grandchildren, Joshua Smith and Tyler Smith, both of Erie, and Katie Smith of Titusville; a brother, Randy Muir and wife Joan of Butler; a sister, Carol Lee Muir Manning of Branson, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Bigley; a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Smith; and two brothers, Gilbert and Dan Bigley.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 1 to 3 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted.

Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
