Evelyn Marie O’Neil, age 90, of Cranberry (Ashland Township), passed away Saturday morning, December 9, 2017, at Shippenville Healthcare, following an illness.

Born May 17, 1927, in McDonald, Ohio, she was the oldest of eight children born to the late Clair and Elsie Craft Elder.

She attended the White Memorial School in Knox for both elementary and high school.

Evelyn married Clyde Edward O’Neil on April 8, 1950, and the couple celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on December 2, 2004.

She was a homemaker, raised six children and worked the family dairy farm with her husband, selling fresh milk to friends and neighbors.

Evelyn was devoted to the Lord and was the oldest living member of the Kossuth Faith Church of the Nazarene and served on the church board; as Sunday school secretary and helped to prepare food for Bible school and church and funeral dinners.

She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles and playing dominoes, as well as gardening, canning, and baking for her family.

Evelyn was featured in the Oil City Derrick “Nifty at 90” article in May 2017.

Survivors include: Edward “Pepper” O’Neil and his wife, Jan, of Berryville, Virginia; Donald O’Neil and his wife, Marsha, of Knox; James O’Neil and his wife, Linda, of Kossuth; Joanne Kapp and her husband, Butch, of Pine City; Gale O’Neil and his wife, Vicki, of Kossuth and Linda Lewis and her husband, Neal, also of Kossuth; twelve grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is also survived by brothers and sisters: Raymond Elder and wife, Nancy, of Shippenville; Jerry Elder and wife, Sue, of Grove City; Helen Fasenmyer of Erie and Donna Gardner of DuBois.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Fisher; brothers: Robert Elder and Kenneth Elder; two brothers-in-law, Joe and Bill and a sister-in-law, Joanne.

Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Reverend Robert Thomas, pastor of the Kossuth Faith Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Starr Cemetery in Ashland Township, Clarion County.
