Upcoming Local Events

The 27th Annual Fryburg Mayfest will be held this year from May 25 to 26.

This year’s theme will be “Color Me America!”

The festivities begin on Friday, May 25, at 7:00 p.m. with the 5K Fun Run/Walk that starts and ends at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fryburg. The course takes participants down Route 208, through Marble Road, and back again. This year’s race is in memory of Kami Dinger.

In addition to the race, there will also be a Corn Hole Tournament on Friday at the Washington Township Fire Hall at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association at the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. The Fryeburg Sportsman Club will also be hosting their members-only fish fry from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Saturday’s events kick off early at 8:00 a.m. with a rummage sale at St. Michael’s Hall and an indoor craft and vendor show inside the former St. Michael’s Shool.

Many of the day’s kids activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last through to 3:00 p.m., including a balloon artist, a face painting booth, a bubble gum machine, and an interactive music DJ.

The Bruce Wilson Memorial Car Cruise is slated to start at 10:00 a.m. and will run through to 1:00 p.m. in the St. Michael’s parking lot. In addition, there will also be a motorcycle show in the field behind the church and a tractor show beside the church.

To fuel people’s hunger for the day, the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department will be serving out barbequed chicken from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m., just in time for the annual Mayfest parade to begin at 3:00 p.m.

A Tuika Polynesian Island Hawaiian Show will follow from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m and the family tailgate party will get underway at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
