SIGEL, Pa. (EYT) — The Farmers Inn is open for business.

(Pictured above: owner Kim Lucas with baby bobcats, Jack and Jill.)

A month ago, the restaurant at the property was destroyed in a fire in the midst of their 40th anniversary celebration.

Even so, barely a week later, Kim Lucas’s business was up and running.

Those who are making a trip to Farmers now would be hard-pressed to see any evidence of the blaze.

“A lot of people think we’re closed, but we were only down a week,” Lucas said.

The crew at the Farmers Inn had everything ready to go, and they were open by June 9.

The petting zoo, gift/bulk store, three mini golf courses, driving range, and the outpost are all open every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Farmers’ petting zoo has a wonderful array of animals that everyone will enjoy.

There are white-tailed deer fawns, baby goats, baby gray foxes, the venerable black bears, anteaters, Omar — the camel, baby bobcats — Jack and Jill, and some unique critters that aren’t found at too many places.

“Big Blue,” a Hyacinth Macaw, is classified as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List. It is an endangered species.

There is also Norman, a binturong, also known as a bearcat that looks very much like a cross between a raccoon and a wolverine.

Last, but certainly not least, is Russell, a majestic black panther.

The ice cream parlor and sandwich shop is open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Broasted chicken, sandwiches, subs, and, of course, ice cream are available.

Farmers has a large selection of Handcrafted Amish Furniture and country gifts.

They also offer cabin rentals at www.clearcreekvacationland.com

The Farmers Inn is located just north of Sigel on Rt. 949, only a few minutes from Clear Creek State Park and just a quick drive from Brookville, Clarion and Cook Forest State Park.
