Farrell Wins D10 Class 1A Football Crown

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Behind a pair of Kyi Wright touchdown runs, Farrell topped West Middlesex, 22-12, for the District 10 Class 1A title Thursday night at Hickory High School.

Wright, who rushed for just 22 yards scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter to put the Steelers up 8-0 at halftime and then went in from two yards out in the fourth quarter after West Middlesex had closed the gap to 16-12.

Braxton Chapman, who led Farrell with 87 yards rushing, also scored on a 1-yard run for Farrell, while Clayton Parrish (2-yard run) and Josh Porterfield (1-yard run) scored for West Middlesex, which outgained the Steelers 235-164 but couldn’t overcome poor special teams plays and turnovers.

Porterfield ran for a game-high 121 yards.

Farrell will face District 5 champion Conemaugh Township at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Somerset High School.
