Fire Damages Forest County Camp

JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A woodstove fire damaged a camp on Tuesday morning in Jenks Township, Forest County.

According to Kevin Carter of the Marienville Volunteer Fire Department, the call came in at 11:00 a.m.

“The fire in the woodstove got behind the wall and went a little ways into the attic, but the camp was saved,” Carter said.

Carter estimated approximately $1,000.00 in damage. The single-story structure is owned by Donald Bitler, of Hutchinson, Pa.

Carter said the camp is located on a dirt road, about 11 miles north of Marienville.

No injuries were reported.

Volunteer fire departments from Marienville, Sigel, Farmington Township, and Washington Township were at the scene.

Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department responded before being sent back to their station.

The scene was cleared at 3:00 p.m.
