JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Jenks Township is considering a new ordinance that could restrict the use of firearms within the township.

Jenks Township Supervisors are currently working on a proposed firearms ordinance that would prohibit the shooting or discharge of firearms except under certain conditions.

exploreClarion.com spoke to Kevin B. Carter, Chairman of the Jenks Township Supervisors about the proposed ordinance.

“Right now we’re just reviewing it with our attorney. Nothing is etched in stone yet. We haven’t voted on anything; we’re still just reviewing it,” Carter said.

Carter said the ordinance will be one of several topics up for discussion at the next township meeting, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on May 7.

exploreClarion.com was denied a copy of the current ordinance proposal, as it is still under review by the supervisors and the township’s attorney.

“I don’t know if it will be complete until we put it out to the public on May 7th. We have a proposed ordinance, but we’re still going over it and making changes,” Carter said.
