KNOX, Pa. (EYT) — State police say a blaze that occurred late Tuesday night in the Knox area has been ruled accidental.

According to the State Police Troop C Fire Marshal Unit, the fire was determined to be accidental in nature and originated at a propane grill located along an exterior wall of the attached two-stall garage.

Police say a family member discovered the fire and alerted the rest of the family.

As previously reported by EXPLORE, Clarion County 9-1-1 received the call around 10:34 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, for a fire at a residence located along Mimms Road, just off State Route 338, in Ashland Township, Clarion County.

Knox Volunteer Fire Company, Emlenton Fire Department, Shippenville-Elk Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, and Knox Ambulance were dispatched.

Penelec and Central Electric were also called to the scene.

Around 10:45 p.m., crews on scene were reporting a fully-involved house fire.

All occupants of the residence exited the home safely.

Around 11:20 p.m., one firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion. According to Clarion County 9-1-1, the firefighter went back to battling the blaze after being treated.

No other injuries were reported.

According to Knox Volunteer Fire Company First Assistant Chief Jon Weaver, the garage was a complete loss, but there was minimal damage to the house.

Damages are estimated at $50,000.00.

The scene was cleared at 2:35 a.m.

The property owners were on the scene on Wednesday afternoon assessing the damage and cleaning up the aftermath.
