Five Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash on State Route 257

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 3:14 p.m. on July 20, a four-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 257, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, the following individuals were involved in the collision:

-63-year-old Albert R. Texter, of Emlenton, vehicle — a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado
-51-year-old Mark J. Lavery, of Pleasantville, vehicle — 2002 Buick Century
-27-year-old Sonny A. Carbaugh, of Seneca, vehicle — 2013 Honda Accord
-68-year-old Mary J. Lindenberg, of Seneca, vehicle — 2012 Subaru Forester

Police say this crash occurred as Texter was traveling south on SR 257, north of Bredinsburg Road and struck Lavery’s car as it was stopped at a red light at the intersection of SR 257 and Bredinsburg Road. Lavery then struck Carbaugh’s car, then Carbaugh struck Lindenberg’s vehicle, both units were stopped vehicles at the red light at SR 257 and Bredinburg Road.

Texter’s pickup and Lavery’s car both came to rest approximately 15′ south of the point of impact on SR 257.

Carbaugh’s car came to rest approximately 10′ south of the point of impact with Lavery’s car, and Lindenberg’s vehicle came to rest approximately 20′ south of the point of impact with Carbaugh’s car.

Texter was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Mr. Lavery and 2 passengers, 51-year-old Josephine R. Lavery and 18-year-old Shannon N. Lavery, were using seat belts and all suffered minor injuries.

Carbaugh was using a seat belt and two juvenile passengers were using child safety seats. Carbaugh suffered minor injuries. It is unknown whether the juveniles were injured.

Lindenberg was using a seat belt. It is unknown whether she was injured.

All individuals were transported to UPMC Northwest except Lindenberg.

County Ambulance Service, Cornplanter VFD, and Seneca VFD assisted at the scene.

Texter was charged with a traffic violation for following too closely.
