Florence Avenell Bishop

Florence Avenell Bishop, 85, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born October 24, 1933, in West Virginia, the daughter of Clay Evanson and Wilma (Skinner) Green.

Avenell was a longtime resident of Sligo and a member of Grace Community Church in Curllsville. She worked as a housekeeper for many years and in her free time enjoyed watching game shows, doing crossword puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed collecting oriental artifacts. Avenell was a faithful wife and wonderful mother, and always took time to listen. She will be best remembered for her gift of always making people feel better.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Linda Simpson and husband, Paul, of Selinsgrove, and Debra Zamperini and husband, Jon, of Rimersburg; grandchildren, Paul Markus Simpson and wife, Holly, Maigan Swartz and husband, Ronald, Robert Michael Simpson, Jonathan Christopher Zamperini, and Desiree Elizabeth Zamperini; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ethan and London Simpson, Amelia, Alexandra and Adalynn Swartz, Ryleigh Zamperini, Mason Cobbet, Paige Zamperini, and Emmett Smith.

Avenell was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Robert E. Bishop, whom she married July 15, 1950, and who died October 1, 2018.

At the family’s request, services will be private.
