Floyd Wilkinson, 84, of Franklin passed away on Thursday, July 27 at 2:40 am at the VA Butler Healthcare Center.

Born on May 20, 1933 in Polk, he was the son of the late Foster and Esther Voorhies Wilkinson.

Floyd was a 1952 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War era.

He had a love of carpentry and woodworking which led to a lifelong occupation. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union 682 and was a past president for over 20 years.

Floyd was an active volunteer fireman at Utica VFD and Polk VFD.

He loved to travel and was always ready for new adventures. He and his wife spent 15 winters in Arizona. They enjoyed visiting many famous sites during the 26 trips across the United States.

He also enjoyed restoring, driving and showing antique Chevy pick up trucks and hunting.

He attended Polk United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Cratty-Jacobs Wilkinson of Franklin; his daughter Theo D. Nalepa; his son Stephen E. Wilkinson and wife Cindi of Polk; his step-daughters Linda Turner and husband Mike of Utica, Brenda Shankel and husband James of Mars and Mary Beth Jacobs of Franklin; his grandchildren Nikki McGill and husband Marc of Franklin, Chad Wilkinson of Franklin, Carl Adams of Franklin and Jill Blalock and husband Phil of Rougemont, NC; his step-grandchildren Ryan Turner and wife Saddie of Franklin, Amy Jolley of Franklin, Scott Shankel of Mars, PA and Leigh Ann Shankel of Mars, PA; his great-grandchildren Dakota M. Adams, Morgan Shaw, Tanner McGill, Drew Wilkinson, Izzy Blalock and Matthew Blalock; and his step-great-grandchildren Skylynn Jolley, Kaycee Jolley, Evan Turner and Jozi Turner.

He is further survived by his sister Janet Szebda and husband Mike of Surprise, AZ; his brothers Lewis Wilkinson of Utica and Frank Wilkinson and wife Deborah of Polk.

Along with his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Y. Wilkinson, a son Brian Lee Wilkinson, a sister Lucille Moyer and 3 brothers George, William and Robert Wilkinson.

Friends are invited to the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Drew Bell, pastor of Polk United Methodist Church, and Rev. Daryl Adams officiating.

Interment will be at Old Sandy Cemetery.
