East Forest — Mini Relay for Life

The 12th annual Mini Relay for Life was held last week with the actual relay held this morning in the gym. Members of the East Forest Relay Club set up booths and educated the students on healthy eating, sun safety, importance of exercise, and the meaning behind relay and what it is truly all about.

Students were able to donate money in the classroom daily or purchase a star with their name on it or in memory/honor of a loved one. Each day they participated in a theme connected to the Relay for Life. By doing these events, their name was put in for a free drawing for a basket full of “fun.” The basket was won by Alexandrea Carroll.

The class that donated the most throughout the week was Mrs. Gawelski’s 2nd grade. Their names will be engraved on the “Gold Medal” class plaque which is located in the elementary trophy case.

All money earned during the week was matched by the Mini Relay for Life Club and will be donated in Memory of Marsha Beichner to the Forest County Relay for Life which will be held July 21st at the MACA in Marienville.

Marsha (pictured below) was the East Forest School librarian who lost her battle to cancer in January.
