KITTANNING, Pa. (EYT) — High school students from both East and West Forest High Schools recently attended music festivals sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).

These festivals are large events where up to 32 school districts send students in grades 10-12. These ensembles can range in size from 140 students for orchestra and band and up to 180 students for chorus. Each of these ensembles is directed by a guest conductor who usually teaches and conducts at the collegiate level.

District Band was held from January 11-12 and was hosted by Armstrong High School in Kittanning, PA.

Forest Area sent Tessa Korchak (pictured above). Tessa is a sophomore flutist and attends East Forest.

District Chorus was held from January 25-27 and was hosted by the Dubois Area School District.

West Forest sent Danielle Habjanetz, a soprano, and Brooke Black, an alto, both senior chorus members.
