FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — Forest County 4-H will send two delegates to represent the program at the 99th National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 29 to December 3.

Noah Burke and Morgan Miller have been selected to attend the program that members are only eligible to attend one time in their 4-H career.

The theme for 2019 is “Go Beyond” and while in attendance Noah and Morgan will engage in activities with over 1,000 4-H delegates from throughout the United States and its territories.

Noah and Morgan will travel with twenty-four additional members from Western Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving to attend National 4-H Congress. The program is a mix of education, service and recreation. The 4-H members will be immersed in leadership skill development and service-learning opportunities.

The history of the National 4-H Congress goes back more than ninety years. An educational tour to Chicago was the forerunner to what would eventually be known as today National 4-H Congress. The 4-H organization differs in each state. As Noah and Morgan makes new friends, they will explore the variety of ways in which states conduct their 4-H programs.

Noah and Morgan will arrive home with new ideas on how to extend the reach of the Forest County program. Noah is the son of John and Stacy Burke and Morgan is the daughter of Dan and Jennifer Miller. The trip is made possible through the support of the J. Bowman Proper Charitable Trust.

Administered in Pennsylvania by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a non-formal educational youth-development program of the United States Department of Agriculture that helps young people develop knowledge and skills to become capable, caring and contributing citizens.
