Details of the assault:

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:15 a.m. on December 5, Corporal Owens and Trooper Hafner, of Marienville State Police, arrived at a residence on Pedros Road in West Hickory, Hickory Township, Forest County, to investigate an incident of domestic violence.

Upon arrival, the female victim was visibly distraught and clothing her ribs. Her lips were covered with dried blood.

She told authorities that she was with her boyfriend – Carl Lanager at his residence on December 4 around 5:00 p.m. She said they began drinking shortly after 5:00 p.m. and a verbal argument ensued. The argument escalated into a physical fight between the victim and Lanager and lasted until 1:00 a.m. when they both went to bed.

The victim related that Lanager threw a kitchen table at her during the altercation.

According to the complaint, the victim said the physical altercation started again when she woke up around 8:00 a.m. and that Manager kicked her in the ribs and choked her. The victim called her friend to pick her up.

The friend stated that when he arrived, the victim was visibly distraught and clutching her ribs. The victim told her friend that Lanager threatened multiple times throughout the night and again in the morning to kill her, before he kicked and choked her.

The complaint states that the victim said Lananger told her “I’m gonna kill you and get a good long look at you while you leave.”

According to the complaint, Lanager was located close to his residence on Bridge Street in West Hickory. He related that he got into a verbal disagreement with the victim and that it escalated into a wrestling match. He said he “lost control” and destroyed his house instead of harming another human being.

He also stated that he was unsure if he choked the victim during the “wrestling match,” the complaint indicates.

Upon arrest, Lanager was searched and found to be in possession of a small metal container which contained a small white pill. Lanager identified it as Percocet and that he did not have a prescription for the pill.
