Former Venango County Man Struck by Car, Killed in South Carolina

DORCHESTER CO., SC (EYT) — A former Venango County man has been identified as the victim in a fatal pedestrian accident in South Carolina.

Frank T. Ellis, 67, of Summerville, South Carolina, was struck by a vehicle near the 8000 block of Dorchester Road in North Charleston around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say Ellis was struck while attempting to cross the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.

The roadway was closed until 3:40 a.m. while police investigated the incident.

It was determined that Ellis was not inside a crosswalk when he was struck.

The investigation is ongoing.

Ellis previously lived in various locations within Venango County, including Cranberry and Franklin.
