Former Venango County Man to Be Sentenced on Wednesday for Burglary

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A former Venango County resident who pleaded guilty to a 2016 burglary from an Elk Township business will be sentenced on Wednesday, September 5.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Christopher David Weaver, of Ellwood City and formerly of Kennerdell, will be sentenced on the following charge in Clarion County Court of Common Pleas at 9:00 a.m. on September 5:

– Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2

As a result of the plea agreement in June of 2018, the following charges were dismissed:

– Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2 (one count)
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3 (two counts)

Weaver is currently free on $5,000.00 monetary bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, it was discovered that cash was taken from the money bags at a Shippenville business as follows:

– $475.00 was taken on November 22, 2016
– $185.00 was taken on November 28, 2016

The owner of the business checked the door that goes to the upstairs apartment and discovered it was unlocked.

On the morning of November 29, 2016, video surveillance showed Weaver going down the apartment steps that lead to the business.

On the evening of November 29, 2016, Christopher Weaver was confronted by a known man about the missing money. Weaver allegedly “admitted to taking the money to feed his Cocaine habit,” according to the complaint.

Weaver was arraigned at 12:15 a.m. on December 2, 2016.
